Punchdrunk Enrichment’s Peter Higgin to step down as search for a new Artistic Director begins.

Today we've announced that Peter Higgin will step down as Artistic Director and Joint CEO after 17 years leading the independent charity. Punchdrunk Enrichment was co-founded by Peter in 2008 to take the innovative practice of Punchdrunk into communities and schools, becoming the pioneer of immersive learning internationally.

Higgin was one of the original founders of immersive theatre company Punchdrunk in 2000, before going on to create the Enrichment practice, which continues to develop transformational theatrical experiences in community, family and education settings. Work includes installation projects for whole schools such as The Lost Lending Library which is now touring internationally as a family show, and the innovative productions Enitan’s GameSmall Wonders and Against Captain’s Orders at The National Maritime Museum. He has spearheaded the introduction of immersive learning  in classrooms and schools around the world.

Jon Gisby, Chair of Trustees at Punchdrunk Enrichment said, “Peter has dedicated so much of his life to Punchdrunk Enrichment and bravely taken immersive productions and projects out into the community and placed people at the heart of unforgettable storytelling journeys. He has given thousands of people creative experiences they wouldn’t have otherwise had through Punchdrunk Enrichment’s adventurous, high-quality approach to theatre. We wish him all the best and thank him for his tireless work, and we look forward to finding the next great leader for this innovative and one of a kind creative charity.”

Peter Higgin said, “I am extremely proud of the work we have created at Punchdrunk Enrichment and how the company has evolved over the years. I’m so grateful to the team for all of their hard work and dedication and I’ll cherish the impact we have made together. I will remain a Founding Artistic Director of Punchdrunk Enrichment to provide support and guidance as required for the new Artistic Director and Joint CEO.  This role is an amazing opportunity for someone with a passion for immersive storytelling and socially engaged practice”.

Peter will remain in role until a successor is appointed, and will continue to be involved in a number of projects. The application process is now open for a new creative leader.
