Ben Connah
As Secretary to the UK Covid-19 Public Inquiry, Ben is responsible for the administration of the Inquiry. A career Civil Servant, he leads the large team supporting the Chair to deliver the Inquiry’s extensive terms of reference. Ben spent his early career working in the Ministry of Justice where his last job was as the senior civil servant responsible for victims’ rights and criminal courts policy. In 2015 Ben moved to the Department for Education (DfE), spending three years responsible for improving the experience of children in care and the outcomes of care leavers, followed by a role sponsoring the Student Loans Company and monetising student debt. Ben then worked in DfE's pandemic response team before becoming Inquiry Secretary in late 2021.
Ben has been a trustee since 2017 and is also a trustee of the Laura Case Trust.
